First unveiled back in 2019, the EarthQuaker Devices Sunn O))) Life Pedal is a force to be reckoned with. Designed to give players the heavy, high-gain tones of Sunn O)))'s audacious Life Metal record, it masterfully combines both an octave distortion and booster into one unit.
While the first run of these units was very limited, EarthQuaker Devices is bringing back a further fine-tuned V3 version of the Life Pedal that will remain in the brand's permanent production line.
The new V3 unit promises a newly refined octave section that is more pronounced without sacrificing its bottom end and also features a third footswitch for more flexibility with your tone-shaping. It also comes in a new custom chassis. Otherwise, the Life Pedal still retains everything that made the original so beloved.
The "Symm" control is great for classic, silicon diode-driven tones, while the "Asymm" control will get you valve amp-like clipping tone, and the pedal is packed with even more tweakable parameters for dialing in exactly the kind of boosted grit you're looking for.
