Heidelberg Deluxe Reverb – Handwired 22W Blackface-Style 1x10 Combo

Handwired 22W Deluxe Reverb-style circuit in a compact Princeton-size cabinet – with master volume, variable Tweed voicing, and tube-driven spring reverb.

This amp was designed to deliver the big, open, dynamic clean sound of a Deluxe Reverb in a more compact and practical format. 22 watts, 1x10 speaker, Princeton-size enclosure. The result is an amp with generous headroom, immediate touch response, and a lively playing feel – deliberately built as a single channel with no tremolo, keeping the focus entirely on tone, dynamics, and usability.

The goal was never to make a 1:1 vintage copy, but to take the best of this circuit topology and refine it: more headroom and authority than a Princeton, yet more compact, lighter, and more gig-friendly than a full-size Deluxe Reverb.

Entirely handwired and built for long-term serviceability. Every joint is mechanically secured – leads bent, hooked, and anchored – before soldering. Components were selected by function, not by hype: Vishay/Roederstein film capacitors, Hammond transformers throughout (power, output, choke, reverb), quality resistors. No corner-cutting, no boutique voodoo – just the right part in the right place.

The Tweed control continuously blends in a 1950s-style midrange focus, taking the amp from open Blackface cleans to more focused, grittier, earlier-breaking tones. The post-phase-inverter master volume lets you push the preamp without excessive stage volume. A rear-panel Dwell control adjusts reverb intensity.
