This transitional period just after World War II represents a fascinating chapter in the development of what would later become known as “the workhorse” acoustic guitar.

This J45 from 1946 has of course had some maintenance. For example, cracks on the back and side of the body have been repaired; the two on the side have been glued, while the crack on the back has been stabilized with glued-in cleats. The guitar has also been refretted, making it playable!
