Shiro 14x5" Vintage Steel Snare Drum (Made in Japan, 1970s) – Excellent / Near Mint
Up for sale is an exceptionally well-preserved 14x5" Japanese vintage steel snare drum from the 1970s MIJ golden era. The Shiro brand was named directly after Shiro Arai, founder of Arai & Co. / Aria.
The chrome shell is in overall superb, almost like-new condition with a deep mirror shine. It shows only minimal, light surface scratches on the chrome and hoops consistent with gentle handling over the decades—no deep pitting, structural damage, or rust.
Features & Condition:
- Shell & Hardware: 14x5" steel shell in almost-new cosmetic condition. Original lugs, smooth strainers, and fully functional internal tone control muffler. Mirror-finish chrome shell and hardware, tight badge grommet, no pitting, and only light handling marks on lugs/hoops consistent with age.
- Batter Head: New testplayed Remo Ambassador Coated (includes attached Moongel dampening pad).
- Resonator Head: Brand new Remo Ambassador Snare Side.
- Snare Wires: Brand new 25-strand wires for sensitive, crisp response and great dynamic range.
Fully detailed, cleaned, detuned for transport. Excellent choice for both studio work and live performance.
