Fender Deluxe Reverb 2-Channel 22-Watt 1x12" Guitar Combo 1963 - 1967 - Black Panel

For sale: 1964 Fender Deluxe Blackface Reverb Amp (AB763 circuit).

The amp is almost entirely original and was made in Fullerton, California, in 1964.

The '64 Deluxe Reverb models are rarer and more sought-after than the later units from '65, '66, and subsequent years. Thanks to the logo-free front and the panel bearing the "Electric Instrument Co." inscription, this is clearly an early example from the Blackface series.

The amplifier features its original black Tolex and grey grille cloth—both in excellent condition—as well as a handle that also looks great.

A true favorite for both studio and stage, the amp delivers a beautiful, dynamic, and clear tube tone with ample headroom and harmonic richness. In my opinion, the reverb and tremolo sound truly wonderful.

The output transformer codes indicate a 1964 build date and are original: 606350, 606409, and 606406 (606 = Schumacher, 3 = 1963, 50 = week number).

What is not original: The power transformer has been replaced with an original Schumacher unit from 1974 (1). It is fitted with a Celestion Greenback speaker (12114, 1j16: September 1976) rather than the Oxford 12K5.

I haven't needed to perform any maintenance on the amp during the years I've owned it—it has been completely trouble-free (I've had it for at least 40 years). I have only swapped the tubes (note the preamp tubes; it contains rare RCA and Philips ones).

The cover and original footswitch are included.

The price is €4,250, reflecting its condition, and seems reasonable to me (based on market trends, which range from €4,000 to €9,000). The fees (Reverb & shipping) are on you (about 250 Euro). The amp is also advertized on other platforms (marktplaats / kleinazeigen).

You are welcome to try it out in Arnhem (Netherlands), but only if you are genuinely serious about buying the amp. I would prefer not to ship it, but if you do want it shipped, that is at your own risk.

(1) Google info on the power transformer: Mid-60s power transformers (like those in 1964) often yielded slightly lower or historically traditional B+ plate voltages (~390V–395V DC on the 6V6 power tubes) depending on the exact sub-revision, whereas various CBS-era adjustments through the early-to-mid 1970s drifted slightly based on fluctuating mains voltage specs and minor winding tweaks. Core Construction: While the physical footprint and 22-watt topology remained very similar, CBS-era manufacturing introduced cost-reduction standards and different wire/varnish specifications; however, a 1974 Deluxe Reverb power/output transformer remains much closer to the original design than the later ultra-linear or "pull-boost" variations introduced later in the 70s.
