I am selling my Dizengoff D4, a tube microphone preamp renowned for its vintage character, which has undergone a high-end modification carried out by a professional technician.
Modifications carried out:
- Original transformers replaced with Sowter transformers
Value of the transformers: €280, excluding labour
- NOS tubes, including a Mullard EF86 and a Russian 6N1P-EV, with excellent readings on the tube tester (value: over €100)
Modifications and assembly carried out by a professional technician
These modifications notably bring greater depth, harmonic richness, presence and definition. The character of the D4 shifts distinctly towards a British vintage aesthetic, with a signature that in some respects recalls that of the Chandler REDD.47, whilst retaining the D4’s own distinct personality.
The result is particularly impressive on vocals, guitars, basses, overheads and acoustic sources, offering plenty of body and character.
Replacing the transformers with Sowter units alone represents a significant investment, to which must be added the cost of the NOS valves and the professional modification.
Very good condition, fully functional.
A few scratches on the top panel.
