A rare Memphis-made ES-137 Classic has arrived! The Gibson ES-137 is a model that masterfully balances the rich resonance unique to semi-acoustic guitars with the playability of a solid-body guitar. While featuring a body structure based on the ES-135, it combines the luxurious look and practicality expected of a high-end model. The body is crafted from laminated curly maple, delivering a warm, resonant tone and rich harmonics. Furthermore, the mahogany center block suppresses feedback while preserving the airy quality characteristic of semi-acoustic guitars, resulting in excellent sustain. As a result, it offers the versatility to handle a wide range of genres, from jazz and blues to rock. The combination of a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard delivers both excellent responsiveness and smooth playability. The supple playing feel unique to the 24.75-inch scale is another appealing feature. In addition to trapezoid inlays, the 12th fret features a distinctive gCh inlay, giving the ES-137 its signature presence. The pickup configuration features a 490R in the front and a 498T in the rear. The 490R produces a sweet, lustrous clean tone, offering rich expressiveness in jazz and blues. The 498T, on the other hand, is characterized by a powerful, cutting sound and pairs well with driven tones. The combination of the warmth typical of a semi-hollow body guitar and the powerful presence reminiscent of a Les Paul is a major appeal of this model. It also features a traditional control layout with two volume knobs, two tone controls, and a three-way selector switch, allowing for precise sound shaping. You can effortlessly express everything from beautiful chord work in clean mode to a gritty blues tone in crunch mode, and a full-bodied rock sound in overdrive mode. Visually, the guitar features a high-end finish?including multi-ply binding on the top and fingerboard binding?that exudes a sense of prestige characteristic of Gibson.
