About this listing
The Lost gPih Returns Mike Matthews, founder and president of Electro-Harmonix, and Bob Myer, a prolific inventor, have maintained a close relationship throughout EHXfs illustrious history ever since they jointly designed the original Big Muff. Always striving for innovation, Bob Myer would propose design improvements to Mike that were tailored to the technology of the time; however, during the development process, some designs were adopted, while others were set aside and eventually forgotten. The dual op-amp design of the Big Muff Pi 2 was one such circuit that was never adopted in the late 1970s and remained tucked away in Bobfs files, eventually falling into obscurity.Later, during an interview at Bobfs old workshop, Josh Scott (JHS Pedals) and Daniel Danger?both avid EHX fans?discovered this hand-drawn circuit diagram among his old notes. Josh analyzed the design and brought it back to life, resulting in the Big Muff Pi 2. The Big Muff Pi 2 retains the character of the classic Big Muff Pi while offering a more distinctive fuzz tone, further enriching the palette of Muff sounds.Combining singing sustain and powerful gain, it faithfully carries on the Big Muff tradition while delivering its own unique edge and response. The sound?created by sharp, crisp highs, powerful lows, and slightly rough clipping?is unique yet unmistakably Big Muff. With a more dynamic and fuzzier character, the Big Muff Pi 2 is an essential pedal for every Big Muff fan. The Big Muff Pi 2 features the familiar Volume/Tone/Sustain controls and is housed in a nano-sized die-cast enclosure featuring artwork by Daniel Danger, an EHX fan and artist. The SUSTAIN control adjusts sustain and distortion levels from moderate distortion to full fuzz.TONE controls the tone, ranging from a raw, bright sound to a heavy low end; turning it clockwise boosts the highs and cuts the lows. VOL sets the overall output level of the pedal. The Big Muff Pi 2 is the first in the Big Muff series to feature a silent true bypass design with a latch/momentary switch function. Normal footswitch operation provides latch action to turn the pedal on and off, while holding down the footswitch enables momentary operation to instantly unleash a burst of fuzz.
