Initially equipped with Lace Sensor pickups, the Eric Clapton signature series switched to Vintage Noiseless pickups starting in 2001. These pickups eliminate the main drawback of single-coils: unwanted noise. The model’s two key features are a soft V maple neck with a 9.5-inch radius, and an active boost controlled via the second tone knob. The body is made of alder, and its black finish—“Blackie”—is the most authentic. This one has just had a stainless steel refret by Jean-Baptiste Prodhomme. Sold in a generic case.
