1963 Fender Stratocaster owned by legendary guitarist and singer Mike Pender of The Searchers and played by him throughout his career. World famous for global mega-hits like "Love Potion Number 9" and "Needles and Pins." The Searchers are the longest running pop band in history and just played their final show headlining the acoustic stage at Glastonbury, where Paul McCartney made a surprise appearance to come see them.
The Searchers and The Beatles were the two main Merseybeat bands playing the Cavern Club and Liverpool music scene who broke through and made it big. The two bands came up together and even had performances together. With over 50 million records sold, the band is nothing short of legendary. King Charles awarded Mike Pender MBE honours in 2020 for his great contributions to music and the arts. This guitar had been owned by Mike for half a century and played throughout his career. Some of his tour lanyards are included in the case, as well as one of his iconic Rickenbacker guitar straps. The guitar is featured with Mike Pender in the hardcover book British Guitarists 1952-1972. Decades of playing and touring by Pender wore the finish off the guitar, which is now fully natural. Mike talks about this guitar in his own book about his career in music. This is truly a museum piece and would serve as a Crown jewel in any guitar collection. All for the price of a new Rolex Day Date watch. I think this guitar is far cooler than a Rolex. I worked in the music and entertainment industry for years, and now I am selling off my guitar collection. This comes with full provenance and a COA. I acquired the guitar from Mike several years ago before his recent passing. The guitar is in its natural aged and road worn state you see in the photos. People are paying thousands to make their new guitars look like this at the Gibson Murphy Lab and Fender Custom Shop. Mike was the last person to play the guitar.
Worldwide shipping to any country. Will be professionally packed and shipped with UPS or FedEx. I am selling off my entire guitar collection, so keep an eye out for upcoming listings and have a browse through my other artist owned guitars.
