A newly made baroque violin bow after the early 18th-century pike's head model, the classic bow of the Corelli and Vivaldi era. Long, slender and finely balanced, it is made for players who want an authentic early-baroque feel and sound.
Craftsmanship and MaterialsThe stick is cut from a dense, deep reddish-brown hardwood with a lively grain and runs out into the characteristic long, pointed pike's head. The open-throat frog is made of ebony, and the button is turned from the same wood as the stick with traditional ornamental rings. The bow is haired with natural white horsehair.
Playing CharacterLight at the tip and quick to respond, with a clear, speaking articulation ideal for historically informed performance in solo, chamber and orchestral playing.
ConditionNew, in mint condition and ready to play.
ShippingPacked in a rigid tube and shipped insured with tracking. Each bow is checked before dispatch; the bow you receive is identical in model to the one shown.
