A very early NS-2 from Vinny Foderafs tenure. A rare gem of great historical value.
This is an early model of the "Specter"?a brand synonymous with the modern bass guitar that revolutionized the history of the instrument?crafted during Vinnie Foderafs tenure.
Features that evoke the history of Specter, such as the laminated through-neck and the headstock joint, can be seen throughout the instrument.
The pickups are original DiMarzio Ivory Case PJs.
Unfortunately, the original HAZ preamp is no longer present, but the instrument is equipped with a preamp that has been completely rebuilt using identical parts based on the original schematics (so you can rest assured therefs no risk of future failure).
The controls include a P-type volume knob, a J-type volume knob, bass and treble controls, a mini switch for active/passive mode (originally an out-of-phase switch), and a kill switch.
The neck itself is in excellent condition, with over 90% of the frets remaining, and the low string action makes it a joy to play.
The original Badass I bridge and Schaller M4 tuners remain in place, and the lacquer finish shows natural weather checking, giving it a unique character.
It is no exaggeration to say that the introduction of the NS-2 changed the history of the electric bass.
