Gretsch #6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman made in 1962 is now in stock!

The #6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman is famous for being the second Gretsch guitar in 1963, replacing the Duo Jet used by George Harrison during The Beatles' debut period.

The wood material of the maple body, two-piece maple neck, and ebony fingerboard, with a 17-inch-wide, 2-inch-thick double cutaway body; the "simulated f-holes" drawn without an open f-hole, and the big mute mechanism near the bridge are the Country Gentleman's greatest feature.

The head is equipped with a metal plate engraved with the model name and serial number "47611" (used since 1957), "GRETSCH" block logo (used since 1958), large truss rod cover (used since the mid-60s), and Grover 150 Step Button, aka Imperial. The guitar is equipped with a

Maple neck with ebony fingerboard features 24 1/2" scale, bone nut, 0 frets, and "Thumbnail Position Mark" semi-circular position mark with mother-of-pearl on the side of the fingerboard face, 1958 or later.

The maple body with a beautiful violin-like fiddle back flame is equipped with two filter-trons with PAT number engraved covers, a big mute mechanism and Bibsby B-6 Gold.
Controls are Pickup Selector / Master Tone Selector / Master Vol / Neck PU Vol / Bridge PU Vol / Standby Switch / String Mute (treble string side / bass string side).
The back of the body is open for the mute mechanism, and a pad is attached to cover the lid.

Hardware is gold parts, with metal "G" Arrow knob, straight bar bridge, and green pickguard made in our factory since 1957.

The pot date is "6223", which can be read in only one place, and is most likely original as no parts replacement can be seen.

There are some cracks and repair marks on the binding, peeling paint, and weather checks characteristic of Gretsch, but there are no problems with use, and we have confirmed that the truss rod turns 45 degrees both tight and loose.
The truss rod is confirmed to turn 45 degrees both tight and loose. The frets are low, but they are original, and have been rubbed together, leaving about 50% remaining.

This is a George Harrison, right in the middle! Please take it when you can find it!
