Here for sale we have a Gibson SG Standard in Ebony finish. Made in the USA in 2005, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body and Mahogany neck with a 22 Medium Jumbo fret Rosewood fingerboard. This guitar is fitted with Chrome Tune-O-Matic bridge and StopBar tailpiece, with Nickel Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with Kluson-style 'Tulip' buttons. A pair of Gibson humbucking pickups are installed, with a 490R in the neck and 498T in the bridge, these are wired to a 3-way selector along with independent volume and tone controls. 

The Mahogany neck plays well, with the Rounded 50’s profile that fills the hand nicely without feeling at all cumbersome. The Gloss finish to the rear of the neck is very pleasant to the touch, and assists with smooth transitions up and down the register. The traditional 12" fingerboard radius feels as flat and consistent as ever, offering comfortable playability right the way up the neck. The familiar twin horns of the SG body provide uninhibited access to the upper frets, whilst the contoured edges of the body ensure that it sits snugly in the arms for a comfortable playing experience. 

The pair of Gibson humbuckers in this guitar are well regarded by Gibson players for their versatility. Whilst the hard rock tones you would expect from an SG are clearly present, the pickups offer a nice smooth and rounded tone that is suitable for a wide range of styles. Country and Blues players will like the bite of bridge pickup, whilst the warmth of the neck position can be appropriate for jazzy sounds, especially when rolling down the tone control. Independent volume and tone pots offer comprehensive control of your sound, making this a real workhorse instrument that matches the versatility of the musician.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition, the front face demonstrates light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. The top corners demonstrate light indentation, piercing the finish slightly. One chip can be identified to the treble side rear edge, chipping the clear coat and revealing the colour coat beneath.

Neck: Overall very good condition, the rear of the neck demonstrates a patch of light indentations behind the 4th fret to the center of the profile. Another, somewhat more notable, indentation can be identified to the center of the profile behind the 10th fret, piercing the finish. Light scratching is apparent throughout under direct lighting at certain angles. Some tooling marks are apparent to the fingerboard beside the frets.

Body: Overall good condition, all aspects of the body demonstrate consistent light to moderate indentation and scratching, visible under close inspection. This causes a slight hazing of the finish in high concentration areas such as the lower bout front face and the center of the rear face. The center of the rear face demonstrates a very consistent buckle rash in two spots, this does not reveal the wood beneath.

Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, with light indentation beneath the treble strings in the early register and some flattening of the crowns throughout, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work.

Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.

Hardware: Fully functional with moderate signs of use, most notably oxidation to the bridge.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.25mm - Bass 1.75mm
