Rare Alfred Arnold AA Bandoneon (1930s) — Provenance, German Made, Patina

Authentic Alfred Arnold (AA) bandoneon, handcrafted in Carlsfeld, Germany, circa 1930s — a true jewel from the golden era of prewar German instrument craftsmanship.

It seems to be in excellent condition to me, however I am unfortunately not an bandoneon player so I am unable to thoroughly assess its condition. It has been sitting unused for many years, so may require some service.

I am not sure about the exact layout of notes, but I have been told that it is non standard and unusual, made specifically for its original owner Arthur Mersiowsky.
This fine instrument was made for Arthur Mersiowsky, Berlin-Lankwitz, a renowned Berlin-based bandoneon/concertina player active during the 1920s–30s.

Arthur Mersiowsky is described as a radio bandoneon virtuoso in the 1937/38 "Künstler des Reichsrundfunks" (Artists of the Reich Radio)... Records: Electrola-Telefunken with his own works. In the old Alfred Arnold catalog, Arthur Mersiowsky is also cited as a reference for Arnold Bandoneon as a famous radio player. The lid of the instrument's case bears several name stamps of Arthur Mersiowsky. There are therefore many indications that this may have been one of the artist's instruments.

You can find some additional information about the sintrument from the previous owner at this website:

I even found what looks to be a very old newspaper notice from the original owner looking for the bandoneon after it was stolen
