Normally reserved to theparagon of players, you’ll find his amplifiers backing up such artists asCarlos Santana, Robben Ford, and even the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan. No twoDumbles are the same, but it’s the Dumble Overdrive Special that continues toreign as the man’s pinnacle design. The amplifiers boast a unique sound andfeel that is praised for its ability to enhance and uncover every nuance of aplayer’s technique and tone. It is this ability that has earned the amp areputation for being one of the finest and most revered ever made. Because thesemythical amps are extremely hard to come by, we created the Synergy OS preampmodule as our tribute to its iconic sound. The OS module packs the Dumblepersonality and user experience in a compact format, providing affordabilityand convenience that the original can never match. Across thefront panel, the OS features the same basic controls as the Overdrive Specialamplifier. Dual footswitchable channels enable switching between the uniqueDumble clean with its mid-forward clarity to the fabled smooth, singing sustainthat gives the Overdrive Special its name. You’ll also find Bright, Deep andRock/Jazz switches that, along with the 3-band EQ, will tailor your tone whilealways retaining the Dumble character. Finally, a master presence control addsjust the right amount of clarity to the module’s OD mode. While nothingsounds or feels exactly like a Dumble, with the Synergy OS preamp module, youcan possess the essence of one of the finest amps in the world alongside all ofthe other classic tones available from the Synergy system. While Synergy’s OS module pays tribute to the original, it isnot associated or approved by, or sponsored by Howard Alexander or his Dumble brand.DUAL<>SINGLESLIDE SWITCH:The OS module features a secondary switchallowing the new Synergy modulesto be used in older single channel Egnater and Randall modular amps/preamps that do not accept the dualchannel modules. This allows access to either of the module channels when thatslot is turned on. You will still not be able to switch between the twochannels due to the limitations of the older hardware. You can set it so eithermodule channel one or module channel two will turn on when the slot isselected. Set to Dual when using the module in units that have the switchingcircuit to access both modules. If you are using a single channel onlyamp/preamp, setting to DUAL will make the bottom module channel active. Set toSingle will cause the top channel of the module to come on when selected.CATHODE SELECT SWITCH:This three position switch allows you to configure theinput tube bass response to match the original circuit of the selected module.This will affect the feel and tightness. Each amp designer has a specificcombination of components that makes up their input tube circuit. We haveselected the three most popular combinations which you can access with thisswitch. For example, Friedman modules use position 2. The USA voiced modulestypically use setting 1. The Soldano SLO uses position 3. Of course, you canexperiment and try any of the positions to see what you prefer. The moduleswill come preset to the designers preferred setting which for the OS module isposition 2 (2.7K resistor and .68uf capacitor).
