The SFT lets you enjoy a rootsy, mildly overdriven tone that won't get too crunchy — without having to lug around vintage tube amps. Like the original big Ampegs, the SFT pumps out plenty of volume even at clean, low-gain settings. Setting the knobs at "noon" will give you Richards-esque jangle, just as if you have a backline of prototype 1969 SVT amps behind you. Turn the Gain way down, the Volume up (and adjust Treble/Bass accordingly), and you can expect tons of clean boost that will finally get you the satisfaction you've been seeking.

Ready for some QOTSA dirt? Then hit the Stones/Stoner button and prepare yourself for raw, unleashed power. The Stones/Stoner button transforms this pedal entirely. Turn the controls further clockwise to go full fuzz, or dial them back to tame the beast and experiment with more controllable fuzz tones. And don't forget: your guitar's onboard controls, especially your pickup selector and volume, will vastly enhance the flexibility of the SFT and should be considered part of its control surface.

From Keith Richards' jangly Ampeg-driven '69 to mid-'70s sound to the dirty desert rock sound of the late '90s to mid-2000s, the SFT Ampeg-voiced overdrive pedal carries two distinct personalities in its chassis. It accomplishes a Jekyll and Hyde–like transformation via a topside Stones/Stoner button, and Treble, Bass, Volume, and Gain knobs round out the control surface (along with the rugged footswitch, of course). Add in some shrewd manipulation of your guitar's onboard controls, and you have the "foundation" for a super-versatile overdrive pedal.
