Up for grabs : An upgraded and wonderful American Standard, that received his serial number on March 19, 2012. Oh yes, it comes with the original Fender Molded SKB Hard case. Al paperwork and stuff is also still in the case.

Custom parts :

Tuners : Changed out for Fender Original Locking Tuners

Bridge Saddles : Changed out for Graphtec saddles (originals come also with the guitar)

Pickups : The neck and middle pickup are Fender Custom Shop pickups (but no indication which ones) and the bridge pickup is a DiMarzio Hot-Rail - Makes me think of a Fender Stratocaster The Edge Signature

Strapbuttons : Changed out for Schaller locking tuners

Personally, I do not prefer so called upgraded guitars, I'd rather buy them original, but all these changes make absolute sense. The don't alter the playability, but they bring comfort and better usability. Only few of us guitar players love to change strings, but with locking tuners its easier, same with the saddles - personally I'm not fond of Fender saddles because the screws annoy me, this is better and they don't wear out. And who doesn't love Schaller, you don't want to see you axe hitting the floor. The pickups is another story, you love them or you hate them, but I'm convinced that this upgrade is really an upgrade. Almost all Strats have a SSS configuration, hardly HSS. HSS makes it a more versatile guitar, that can handle more than clean sounds up to hard blues sounds. This one melts your face when you open the gain on your amp (or Quad Cortex :) ). It was a very good choice to do this upgrade in my opinion. But hey, if you don't like the pickups, throw them out and get something else. That is the advantage of this one, it already has been done.

Here is the spec list from 2012 and a few words from Fender :

Today’s new American Standard Stratocaster guitars are worthy heirs of their revered ancestors—mindful of player needs and taking full advantage of modern advances, yet remaining completely true to the elements and spirit that made these instruments legendary in the first place. Improvements include a new bridge, a new neck and body finish, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Of course we have kept the beloved hand-rolled fretboard edges, AlNiCo V pickups, and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)! So make history with the new American Standard !
