Verkaufe PRS Guitars Made in USA 2002er Custom 22 mit Wide Thin Profil, Flame Maple-Top, Abalone Bird Inlays, Case und allem Drum und Dran.

Die Gitarre hat derzeit einen Toggle-Switch, weil ich eher Les-Paul-Mensch bin, aber der originale Drehschalter (der auch Split-Sounds bereits stellt) ist dabei. Wenn es gewünscht ist, kann ich auch den Schalter wieder einbauen und den Toggle-Switch mit in den Koffer legen. Die Abdeckung für die Vibratofederkammer ist auch dabei mit Schrauben.
Also alles da.

Auch dabei sind Zertifikate, PRS „Hang Tag“, Bedienungsanweisung, Ersatzschrauben für die Locking-Mechaniken, originale Gurtknöpfe (montiert sind Security-lock-kompatible Knöpfe), der Vibrato-Hebel und die originale Abdeckung für den Truss-Rod-Zugang (montiert ist eine lackierte Mahagoni-Platte – ich finde das schicker).

Die Gitarre hatte mal ein Lackproblem. Aus der Zeit bekamen einige PRS (so etwa eine von hundert) nach vielen Jahren milchige Stellen. Wer das googelt, findet auch PRS Dragons, bei denen die gesamten Drachen-Inlays auf dem Korpus wie unter einer Milchglasscheibe verschwunden sind.

Diese Gitarre wurde überall gaaaanz leicht weißgrau (wie ein hauchdünner Schleier, der nur in der Sonne auffiel), aber besonders im unteren Cutaway, am Halsansatz hinten sowie an der Kopfplatte vorne und hinten wurde es deutlich grau-milchig. Polieren half nicht – das war unter dem Lack.

Ich habe das Instrument dann zu Meister Walter Kraushaar geschickt, einer deutschen Referenz in Sachen Lackierung. Er hat (Zitat) „unglaublich viel Polyester-Rotz“ heruntergehobelt, der da (auch Zitat) „in fetten Schichten alles verkapselt hat“. Er hat das Ahorn-Naturbinding erhalten, die Flame-Maple-Decke neu gebeizt und die gesamte Gitarre perfekt und dünn neu lackiert.
Zum Schluss kam wieder ein edles goldenes PRS-Logo drauf – fertig.

Walters Arbeit war sehr teuer, aber absolute Spitzenklasse – natürlich mit Rechnung.
Klanglich war ich vorher schon zufrieden, aber sie hat eine zusätzliche „Öffnung“ in Obertönen und Dynamik bekommen.
Man kann mir das glauben oder nicht, aber eine dicke Poly-Grundierung mit grober Lackummantelung im Vergleich zu einem dünnen Finish vom Meister – das ist wirklich ein Unterschied.
Ich sehe diese Arbeit daher weniger als optische Restaurierung, sondern vielmehr als klangliches Upgrade.

Die Gitarre ist der Hammer: Neben einem bemerkenswerten Dynamikfenster hat sie eine fantastische „süße Wärme“ am Hals (der Dragon II Neck gilt als einer der besten PRS-Halspickups) und eine muskulöse PAF-Note am Steg. Ich bitte um Entschuldigung für die blumige Beschreibung – ich kann es nicht besser ausdrücken.

Ich verkaufe sie, weil – naja: Ich spiele kaum noch Gitarre, werde auch nicht jünger, und irgendwann muss man sich von Dingen trennen, auch wenn es weh tut.

Ich bitte ausdrücklich darum, vorbeizukommen und sie anzuspielen! Und sie dann zu kaufen (wer sie anspielt, wird sie auch kaufen). Wer sie anspielt, versteht auch besser, warum ich so merkwürdig positiv über sie rede.

For sale: PRS Guitars Made in USA 2002 Custom 22 with Wide Thin profile, flame maple top, abalone bird inlays, case, and all the extras.

The guitar currently has a toggle switch installed because I’m more of a Les Paul type of player, but the original rotary switch (which provides coil-split sounds) is included. If desired, I can reinstall the rotary switch and place the toggle switch in the case. The cover for the tremolo spring cavity is also included with screws.
So everything is there.

Also included are certificates, the PRS hang tag, manual, spare screws for the locking tuners, original strap buttons (currently fitted are security-lock-compatible buttons), the tremolo arm, and the original truss rod cover (currently installed is a lacquered mahogany plate – I think it looks nicer).

The guitar once had a finish issue. Around that time (2002), some PRS guitars (roughly one in a hundred) developed cloudy spots after many years. If you google it, you’ll also find PRS Dragons where the entire dragon inlays on the body seemed to disappear as if behind frosted glass.

This guitar developed a very slight whitish-grey haze all over (like a thin veil only visible in sunlight), but especially in the lower cutaway, at the back of the neck joint, and on the front and back of the headstock it became distinctly grey and cloudy. Polishing didn’t help – it was underneath the finish.

I then sent the instrument to master luthier Walter Kraushaar, a German reference when it comes to finishing work. He (quote) “planed off an incredible amount of polyester gunk” that had (also quote) “encapsulated everything in thick layers.” He preserved the natural maple binding, re-stained the flame maple top, and refinished the entire guitar perfectly and thinly.
Finally, an elegant gold PRS logo was reapplied – done.

Walter’s work was very expensive, but absolutely top-class.
I was already happy with the tone before, but it gained an extra “openness” in overtones and dynamics.
Believe it or not, but a thick poly base coat plus heavy paint shell versus a thin master-applied finish – that really makes a difference.
I therefore see this less as a cosmetic restoration and more as a tonal upgrade.

This guitar is a monster: Besides a remarkable dynamic range, it has a fantastic “sweet warmth” in the neck position (the Dragon II neck is considered one of the best PRS neck pickups) and a muscular PAF-style character at the bridge. Apologies for the flowery description – I can’t put it any better.

I’m selling it because – well: I hardly play guitar anymore, I’m not getting any younger, and at some point you have to let things go, even if it hurts.

I explicitly invite you to come by and play it! And then buy it (whoever plays it will buy it). Once you try it, you’ll better understand why I speak about it so enthusiastically.
