Sitting somewhere between an electric bass and a ukulele, this remarkably compact instrument quickly won over bass players looking for an original, portable and surprisingly effective solution. Behind its “small instrument” appearance lies a genuine bass capable of delivering deep low frequencies and remarkably dynamic response.The Rumbler RMBL-FS perfectly embodies this philosophy. Its all-mahogany construction gives it a warm, rounded and woody tone, particularly pleasing in the lower register. The compact body and 20.375" scale make the instrument extremely easy to transport and very comfortable to play, while retaining the traditional E-A-D-G tuning of a four-string bass.One of the major attractions of this U•BASS is, of course, its Silver Rumbler by Aquila strings, which play a major role in its distinctive sound. They provide that very particular response, both supple and deep, allowing the Rumbler to produce remarkably powerful low end considering its dimensions. The result is particularly convincing for accompaniment, whether played acoustically or amplified.The rosewood fingerboard, mahogany neck and satin finish contribute to a very natural playing feel. With its 16 frets, short scale and compact dimensions, the Rumbler is also particularly well suited to travelling, rehearsals, acoustic sessions or simply playing anywhere without having to carry a traditional full-size bass.Once plugged in, it reveals another side of its personality thanks to its dedicated U•BASS electronics: the sound retains its organic, warm character while providing enough control to integrate easily with a bass amplifier or PA system.The Kala U•BASS Rumbler RMBL-FS is therefore an instrument that is as original as it is appealing. It does not aim to replace a traditional bass; instead, it offers something genuinely different, combining minimal size, a strong sonic personality and the rather impressive ability to produce low frequencies that seem far bigger than its dimensions would suggest.
