The 2001 Gibson ES-335 Figured is a semi-hollow electric guitar featuring a laminated maple body with a solid maple centre block to reduce feedback while preserving the characteristic acoustic resonance of the ES series. Figured maple laminates are used on the top, back, and sides, giving the guitar a visually striking flamed appearance. The neck is mahogany, set with a traditional glued joint, and finished with a bound rosewood fingerboard carrying 22 frets and dot position inlays.
Electronics include two Gibson humbucking pickups wired to the classic ES-335 configuration, with separate volume and tone controls for each pickup and a three-way toggle switch for pickup selection. The guitar is fitted with a Tune-o-matic bridge and a stopbar tailpiece, while vintage-style tuning machines provide reliable tuning stability. The scale length measures 24.75 inches with a nut width around 1.6875 inches.
The instrument is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer and includes single-ply body and neck binding, consistent with Gibson's ES-335 construction standards of the early 2000s. Production during this period took place in Gibson's Nashville facility, and the figured maple models were selected to highlight high-grade visual characteristics while maintaining the tonal qualities expected of the ES-335 platform.
