Key Features and ToneThe FDR-1 was part of the collaborative "Legend Series" between Boss and Fender and is known for delivering a classic "blackface" sound. Tone Recreation: It captures the bright, crisp clean tones and the lustrous, snappy overdriven sound characteristic of the original 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp.Built-in Effects: The pedal includes digital emulations of the original amplifier's spring reverb and vibrato effects. The vibrato speed can be set using a tap tempo function by holding down the pedal switch.Versatility: It can be used as a standalone amp emulator for a full clean tone, as an overdrive pedal, or as a "pre-gain pedal" to add a Fender tone character to an already overdriven amplifier.Construction: The pedal features the signature road-tough BOSS metal construction, ensuring durability. Controls and SpecificationsThe pedal's controls are designed to mirror those on the original amplifier, offering comprehensive tone shaping options. Controls:Level: Adjusts the overall output volume.Gain: Controls the amount of overdrive or distortion.Treble: Adjusts the high frequencies.Bass: Adjusts the low frequencies.Vibrato: Controls the depth of the vibrato effect.Reverb: Controls the amount of the spring reverb effect.Power Supply: The unit operates on a 9V DC power supply (PSA series optional AC adaptor) or a 9V battery.Current Draw: It draws approximately 40 mA. User and Expert OpinionsReviews suggest the pedal excels at providing a characteristic clean Fender tone, especially with certain guitars. The overdrive tone, as a digital model of its time, has been described as an "acquired taste" by some reviewers, while others find it useful for specific genres like blues and classic rock. The reverb and vibrato effects are generally considered good and useable, though the reverb can have some quirky artifacts with aggressive playing dynamics.Disclaimer: minor characteristics due-to-age such as light pots scratching / hums / hisses / clicks on every 10+ years old electronic equipment for sale may occur.
