Video: Chris Buck Plays Signature Revstar with Mystery Pedalboard

For Chris Buck, a signature guitar wasn’t about reinventing the wheel—it was about holding onto one he already loved. Buck walks through the story behind his Yamaha signature Revstar—available now on Reverb—spotlighting the final prototype he signed off on and ultimately refused to part with after years of refinement.

Rather than chasing flashy specs, Buck focused on feel and response. The Revstar’s P-90s were painstakingly dialed in with Yamaha Japan to deliver a touch-sensitive, almost acoustic quality when the volume is rolled back into a driven amp.

A carbon-fiber-reinforced neck adds road-ready stability, keeping the guitar consistent and in tune even after extreme travel conditions. Elsewhere, Buck plugs into a borrowed—and slightly chaotic—mystery pedalboard, uncovering new lead tones and textures on the fly.

But the bigger picture is clear: signature or not, this Revstar is meant to stand on its own. If you connect with it, the name on the headstock doesn’t really matter.
