I contacted Joel Korte, founder of Chase Bliss, directly to learn more about this Ayahuasca pedal. This pedal differs from the regular production versions: the backplate is inscribed with "To Gabe" and signed by Joel Korte and HMH (2016), it has pink knobs instead of the usual blue ones, and the wooden box is unnumbered.
Joel confirmed that this is a unique one-of-one example. The inscription refers to Gabe, who collaborated with him on the Ayahuasca project. According to Joel, Gabe was given several pedals by Chase Bliss to promote his (now defunct) website, BestGuitarEffects.com, and occasionally raffled them off. Joel believes this pedal was most likely one of those promotional giveaway units.
I purchased the pedal from a seller in Vienna, who told me he had originally bought it on Reverb. Unfortunately, the complete history can no longer be verified because the original photos in the Internet Archive are no longer available. However, based on Joel's own information, this is an exceptionally rare piece with a direct connection to the early history of the Ayahuasca.
I have never actually played the pedal myself. Shortly after I bought it, I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that left me in a wheelchair. As I am now saving up to purchase a handbike, I've decided it's time to let this very special pedal go to someone who will appreciate and enjoy it.
