This is an early, discontinued four-knob JHS Charlie Brown – not an Angry Charlie.
The Charlie Brown was JHS’s take on the sound and feel of a vintage Marshall JTM45: warm, open and beautifully responsive, with everything from slightly dirty edge-of-breakup sounds to proper classic-rock crunch. It reacts really well to the guitar’s volume control and never feels like somebody simply placed a blanket of distortion over the original sound.
Volume, Drive, Tone and Presence give the pedal considerably more flexibility than the wonderfully primitive artwork might suggest. Basically, an old Marshall trying to live inside a small brown box. Seems reasonable.
This is the cool early hand-painted version with the four white knobs and diamond control layout, made before the later five-knob Charlie Brown V4. The pedal works exactly as it should and is in very good used condition with only light signs of use.
The original box is included.
Runs on a regular 9V DC centre-negative power supply. Power supply is not included.
A seriously cool piece of early JHS history for players, collectors and people who have already bought enough overdrives but somehow still need this one.
