The Tone King Royalist Preamp at a glance

The Tone King Royalist Preamp is a tube-based preamp pedal that brings classic British Plexi-style tones to the pedalboard. Developed from the Tone King Royalist Mk III Combo, it delivers legendary sixties and seventies drive, from warm cleans reminiscent of early JTM45 and Bassman amps to powerful lead voicings. Inside, three 12AX7 tubes provide dynamic and authentic British overdrive, while the two-channel design offers separate 3-band EQ per channel and switchable 1964/1967/1970 voicings for versatile tonal shaping. Additional features include an integrated zero-watt power amp with phase inverter, Iron Man attenuators, channel-assignable reverb, HF switch, and a switchable stereo effects loop. The Royalist also functions as a full-featured DI solution for stage and studio, thanks to integrated impulse response technology with 20 OwnHammer cabs, balanced stereo XLR outputs, a headphone connection, and comprehensive MIDI functionality supporting up to 128 storable presets. Control is simplified via the Tone King Editor software through a USB-C port. A USB cable and 12V power supply are included.
