This is not simply a standard Cry Baby with a different finish. The JB95 was specifically voiced around Joe Bonamassa’s approach to the wah, with a wide, highly vocal sweep designed to accentuate expressive bends, sustained notes and blues-rock lead playing. Dunlop describes it as one of its most expressive Cry Baby designs. 

🔥 Signature Joe Bonamassa Design

The pedal features the distinctive copper top with a smooth black body, giving it the unmistakable Joe Bonamassa Signature appearance.

Inside, the JB95 uses large vintage-style through-hole components and a vintage-style Halo Inductor, providing additional harmonic content and the characteristic vocal, growling quality associated with classic wah tones. 

It also includes an output buffer, specifically designed to prevent impedance interaction with vintage fuzz pedals, making the JB95 particularly useful in a traditional blues-rock pedalboard where wah and fuzz may be used together. 

🔥 Internal True Bypass / Buffered Bypass Switch

One of the particularly interesting features of the JB95 is the internal bypass switch.

The pedal can be configured for:

• True Hardwire Bypass

• Non-True Bypass / buffered operation

Joe Bonamassa has stated that he prefers the non-True Bypass configuration because it slightly darkens the high end, which forms part of his preferred signal-chain response. 

The switch is located internally and is accessed by removing the bottom plate.
