Founded in California in the 1970s, Schecter has a particularly rich history in the world of electric guitars. Originally specializing in replacement parts and high-end components, the company quickly built a strong reputation among demanding guitarists before eventually developing its own instruments. Schecter played a significant role in the history of electric guitar during the 1980s with instruments that have since become iconic, and the brand subsequently developed a remarkably comprehensive range, from affordable models to genuine professional instruments. Today, Schecter remains known for a straightforward philosophy: offering modern, carefully designed and generously equipped guitars with an exceptionally competitive price-to-performance ratio.
This Damien-6 LH is a perfect example of that approach. Designed specifically for left-handed guitarists, it delivers a genuinely modern and high-performance instrument without the compromises so often associated with left-handed models. Its Satin Black finish gives it a sleek, elegant and unmistakably rock-oriented appearance, while the “Bats” inlays on the fingerboard add a distinctive touch that is characteristic of the Damien series.
Its mahogany body, combined with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, provides a highly effective foundation for an instrument that is solid, comfortable and versatile. The Thin C neck profile and 14" fingerboard radius offer a very modern playing feel, perfectly suited to precise rhythm work, bends and fast playing. With 24 X-Jumbo frets and a 25.5" scale length, the Damien-6 has everything needed to excel in rock, hard rock and metal.
The electronics are equally impressive for this price range. The two Schecter Diamond Heretic humbuckers deliver a powerful, precise and dynamic tone, perfectly suited to modern high-gain sounds while retaining enough definition for complex chords and riffs. The push-pull coil-split on the tone control also provides brighter and more open sounds, adding welcome versatility to a guitar that could otherwise be very focused in its tonal character.
Schecter has also paid close attention to the details: the Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut, Schecter hardtail bridge with string-through-body construction, black hardware and Schecter tuners all contribute to the feeling of playing a particularly well-designed instrument. The result is a coherent, reliable guitar that is immediately ready for use, whether at home, in the studio or on stage.
But it is above all as a left-handed guitar that the Damien-6 becomes particularly appealing. The left-handed market remains considerably more limited than the right-handed market, and it is rare to find a guitar at this price point offering a mahogany construction, two humbuckers, coil-splitting, a string-through-body bridge, a TUSQ nut and such a successful finish. Schecter has clearly not simply produced a basic left-handed version of an entry-level model here: the specifications and overall equipment are genuinely impressive.
The Damien-6 LH SBK is therefore a particularly attractive choice for any left-handed guitarist looking for a modern, comfortable guitar with enough power and versatility for rock and metal. Its price-to-performance ratio is simply exceptional in the left-handed guitar category, making it an extremely difficult proposition to beat at this price. Once again, Schecter demonstrates its ability to combine character, impressive specifications and real-world performance without unnecessarily driving up the price.
