The Meinl AEALPG-PER Artisan Cajon Artista Line by Paquito González brings the signature sound of one of the leading flamenco percussionists to a wider audience of players. Like the Professional model, it is handcrafted in Spain by Pepote Percussion, built by Pepote’s team of highly skilled craftsmen to the same high standards. Paquito González, born in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz), is the regular percussionist for flamenco guitarist Vicente Amigo and the renowned flamenco singer Miguel Poveda. Having contributed to more than a hundred albums, including ‘Canción Andaluza’ by Paco de Lucía, ‘Un Momento en el Sonido’ by Vicente Amigo and ‘Tierra de Calma’ by Miguel Poveda, his artistry has shaped every aspect of this instrument.

A 7-ply, 9 mm thick Baltic birch body delivers a powerful, focused tone with clear projection, combined with a tulipwood top and an Ukola wood frame for crisp, defined slaps. Two independent sets, each with five pre-tuned strings, adjustable separately on each side, allow the player to fine-tune the snare effect to their exact preference. The specially designed side playing surface invites the use of authentic side-playing techniques, which form the heart of traditional flamenco, and gives the performer a genuine flamenco voice in a versatile, accessible package.
