Chet Atkins, also known by his stage name "The Country Gentleman," has been instrumental in the development of new and innovative guitars at the Gretsch Company since the mid-1950s. Even though the Country Gentleman had the aura of a classic Country & Western guitar around it, it became a Rock 'n' Roll icon thanks Beatles guitarist George Harrison. On February 9, 1964, 70 million excited Americans saw the Beatles live on the Ed Sullivan Show – with George Harrison and the Country Gentleman at the forefront!Here is an absolutely authentic re-issue of the legendary 6122's Chet Atkins Country Gentleman that comes damn close to the "look and feel" and sound of the original. The "Gretsch G6122T-62 Vintage Select Edition Chet Atkins" has been carefully reproduced according to the specs of the original down to the smallest detail. Here you'll find an impressive 3-ply laminated maple top, a classic maple neck in the standard "U" shape, plus a dark ebony fingerboard with Pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. And as befits a "Gent," it's equipped all around with classy gold hardware, like the original with a tuning-stable Bigsby B6G vibrato and a golden Vintage Plexi pickguard with Gretsch logo. Even the somewhat unusual double foam string mutes with red felt surrounds were taken 1:1 from the original to ensure the absolute authenticity of this instrument. The two TV Jones® FilterTron pickups produce a tonal variety of harmonic overtones that are perfect for distinctive Rock 'n' Roll licks, classic Country rhythms or driving Rockabilly riffs.
