I am offering a Gibson Memphis Midtown Custom Ebony from 2013, a still crafted in Memphis, Tennessee (USA), semi-hollow electric guitar featuring a lightweight Thinline mahogany body with resonance chambers (weighing just 3.98kg in total!), maple top with two F-holes, set mahogany neck with 60’s SlimTaper neck profile, bound Richlite fingerboard with bold white acrylic block inlays, two tonally versatile Gibson Burstbucker 1 & 2 humbucker pickups, and high-quality Gibson Tune-o-Matic bridge with Stopbar tailpiece in a gorgeous high-gloss ebony nitro finish with 5-ply body binding and gleaming chrome hardware in mint condition, including black Gibson luxury hardshell case, manufacturer’s papers, and professional setup with 10-gauge Elixir strings.
This beautiful semi-hollow guitar, known as the Gibson Midtown Custom, originates from Gibson’s now-closed Memphis, USA, facility and features a proven design with a partially hollowed-out mahogany body and a flat-top maple top. As a visually upgraded custom version compared to the standard Midtown, the guitar impresses with a glossy black ebony nitro finish and five-ply white body binding. Together with the bold block inlays set into the deep black Richlite fretboard and the elaborately designed Custom headstock, the guitar takes on a truly unique appearance that harmonizes perfectly with the shiny silver chrome hardware.
The thinline mahogany body weighs a substantial 3.98kg, giving the guitar a noticeable natural resonance even when played acoustically. Plugged in, two Gibson Burstbucker 1 & 2 humbuckers deliver the characteristic warm, mid-focused semi-acoustic tone, which is suitable for classic jazz and blues sounds as well as driving rock tones and groovy funk riffs. The guitar is an absolute all-rounder, and a sound sample of the model can be found at the top of the photo gallery.
Playability is very comfortable, thanks primarily to the medium-wide ’60s SlimTaper neck profile, the shortened 628mm scale length, and the 43mm nut width.
In short: This is a wonderful Gibson semi-acoustic guitar that offers fantastic sound characteristics, smooth playability, and the classic Gibson vintage look, all while remaining affordable!
