The Fender "Stringmaster" represented the pinnacle of Fender's steel guitar development. Made with two, three, or four necks, it was a major revenue generator for Leo Fender in the late 1940s and early 1950s, alongside amplifiers. After all, the electric guitar had only just been invented, and its future was anything but certain.
Here is a perfectly preserved 1955 example with the typical configuration of two single-coil pickups per neck. The Stringmaster was completely stripped of its finish by the last of its two previous owners and refinished with a reddish-brown matte lacquer. The electronics and hardware are original and works perfectly! The plastic pickup covers were only found on the 1955 and 1956 models.
