Offered for sale is a beautifully restored, fine handmade violin dating from approximately the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1880–1910).

This instrument is built in the Guarneri style and shows clear evidence of individual hand craftsmanship beyond standard factory production.

🔍 Construction & Craftsmanship

  • Fully hand-built instrument
  • Four full corner blocks (well-shaped and cleanly executed)

  • Clean, carefully finished interior (no rough factory tooling marks)
  • Ribs and internal work show attention to detail throughout
  • Expressive, hand-carved scroll with visible tool work
  • Subtle asymmetry consistent with individual workmanship

This is not a low-grade factory violin, but a well-made instrument from a skilled maker or small workshop.

📏 Measurements

  • Body length (LOB): 361 mm
  • Rib height: approx. 34 mm

These dimensions give the instrument a strong and full tonal character, especially in the lower register.

Materials & Fittings:

  • Ebony fingerboard

  • Hand-carved bone saddle
  • Ebony endpin
  • New ebony tailpiece by Conrad Götz (certified wood)

🎨 Condition & Restoration

The violin has undergone a full, careful restoration:

  • Professionally reassembled using traditional hide glue
  • New spirit varnish finish applied (thin and acoustically responsive). This violin was found in a fully stripped state, with the original varnish having been removed prior to restoration.
  • Custom hand-carved bone nut and saddle.
  • Set up for optimal playability

The instrument is structurally solid and ready to play.

Restoration & Structural Notes

The violin shows a properly constructed interior with full corner blocks, fitted bass bar, and clean internal work throughout.
