Mauchant, Rouver Violin Mirecourt 1800 - Oil

Beautiful 4/4 violin. The name of the French luthier Circa 1800, Mauchant, Rouver (Rouver could be the apprentice of master Nicolas Mauchant), is pyrographed on the inside and on the end-pin area of the tailpiece. The one-piece top, perfectly preserved without cracks or repairs, is made of high-quality spruce pine with straight, tight grain. The back, carved from a single piece, is structurally perfect except for a hairline crack, not repaired, in the upper area. It has rich flamed maple. The pegs and chinrest are made of rosewood. The fingerboard and tailpiece are made of ebony, the latter decorated with a bronze inlaid lyre. Oil varnish. Warm, powerful, and balanced sound.
