The smaller models of the SSL USB audio interfaces already enjoyed great popularity, which is why Solid State Logic now presents a larger variant - the SSL12 - with 12 ins and eight outs. Four of the channels include top-notch mic preamps with 62dB gain range, while legacy "4K" switches are available per channel to give your audio signals that certain something by colouring the sound. The model here is the legendary SSL 4000 series.

In addition, there is an 8-channel ADAT input on the rear, MIDI connections and two independently adjustable headphone outputs, which can conveniently also be used as line-outs.

It works in formats up to 32-bit and 192kHz, so audiophiles users will also get their money's worth, or sound engineers/sound designers will benefit from flexibility in post-production or mixing. The signals can be monitored via two pairs of headphones or two pairs of speakers, while five-digit level meters per channel provide information about the levelling.

In general, the USB-C audio interface with all its Neutrik jacks and Alps controls has a high-quality finish and fits well into any studio environment thanks to its unique yet simple design. The built-in talkback microphone and the three freely assignable switches - which initially function as CUT, ALT and TIM by default - are an excellent addition to the already lavishly equipped audio interface. Nevertheless, SSL adds a comprehensive software bundle worth about 1000€ as icing on the cake, so that you as a sound engineer, producer, sound designer or hobby musician can start recording right away. On board is the SSL Vocalstrip 2 and Drumstrip, IK Multimedia Amplitube 5 SE, Celemony Melodyne Essential, Native Instruments Hybrid Keys & Komplete Start, Ableton Live 11 Lite and much more!
