Up for sale is a very nice pair of BFE/Filtek BKE-4 compressor/limiters in Danner cassettes. BKE stands for Begrenzer-Kompressor-Expander, which translates roughly to limiter-compressor-expander. According to vintagetools.de, the BKE-4 was the last model in the series before BFE/Filtek closed its doors in the early 1980s.
The BKE-4 is a VCA-based leveling amplifier, whereas earlier models in the BKE series used FET technology. These are extremely versatile compressor/limiters, and they're easy to saturate if that's your thing, thanks to the adjustable threshold and input/output levels. The signal path features high-quality Haufe transformers.
Sidechain compression is also easy to implement. I'll email you the complete manual and schematic in PDF format.
Some people compare the BKE-4 to the U473, but with all its controls, I'd say the BKE-4 is even more versatile.
Tuchel T2701 connectors are included. All you need is a +24 V DC power supply.
Works perfectly, but sold as-is.
EU buyers only.
