Offered here is a beautiful and traditionally constructed Telesforo Julve classical guitar from Valencia, Spain.
Telesforo Julve is one of the well-known names associated with the Valencian school of Spanish guitar making. This instrument bears a Julve label with the historical address:
“Telesforo Julve – Fábrica de Guitarras, Bordones y Cuerdas – Valencia (España) – Convento S. Francisco, 4 – Teléfono 217854”
Based on the label variant and the construction, the guitar can probably be dated to the 1950s/1960s.
The instrument is particularly interesting for its traditional Spanish construction. The top, back and sides are made of solid wood. The top is attached to the sides using individual Spanish peones/blocks, while the back is fitted with traditional lining strips. Inside, the guitar features a classic ladder bracing system.
The neck is joined to the body using the traditional Spanish heel construction, characteristic of traditional Spanish guitar making.
The two-piece back displays particularly attractive and lively figuring, giving the instrument a distinctive visual character.
