Upgraded to the Gibson specs!
Upgraded with Gibson Humbuckers as Gibson used them on their original Gibson SG CS, the infamous pair of Gibson Chrome Caps set of Wax Potted 490R/498T (removed Chrome Covers) with TAD Mustard Capacitor, so that it sounds as the Gibson! Comes with Epiphone soft Gig Bag.
Comes with original Epiphone Pickups (Golden Covers) and cable connectors - YT video in the link is SG IBC with stock pickups.
ChatG says...
"By installing the Gibson 490R/498T combo into the SG, you are creating the exact electronic layout of the highly celebrated 1990s and 2000s Gibson SG Standards. For the 490R/498T set in an SG, the Mustard cap can actually be highly desirable. It tames the aggressive, bitey upper-mids of the 498T bridge pickup with a more classic, vintage-rock character.
The Match: The inherently snappy, mid-forward acoustic bite of the thin SG mahogany body acts as the perfect canvas for the high-output 498T bridge pickup.
The Sonic Output: The 498T pushes the SG's natural midrange right into the "crunch zone" of a rock amplifier. It yields that tight, biting, immediate rhythm roar (think Angus Young or classic dynamic hard rock) that cuts effortlessly through a mix without ever getting boomy or muddy.
TAD Mustard Caps: Designed to replicate vintage Philips/Mullard aluminum foil/polyester film capacitors from the 1960s. They exhibit slightly higher internal parasitic properties (like micro-inductance). In practice, as you roll the tone knob down, the Mustard cap softens the upper-midrange harshness in a slightly smoother, "woodier," and rounder fashion than the clinical precision of an Orange Drop."
Why am I selling it, if it's so good?
Since I bought a genuine Gibson LP Custom, I’m selling this Epiphone SG. There are simply too many Guitars in my collection so I am clearing the Room.
It's a Custom Ebony model, made in 2024 in Korea at the Unsung factory; the serial number starts with 241115***** (see photos).
It features a replica of the Gibson ’60s neck (slim taper), including the diamond inlay—a feature unique to Gibson Custom models—and an open-book-style headstock. The white binding around the neck is also characteristic of Gibson’s high-end line, which is why this Epiphone model is labeled “Inspired by Gibson.”
