1965 Mosrite The Ventures Model II – Metallic Blue – all original and in excellent condition. This model is the successor to Johnny Ramone’s famous slab-body Ventures II, released in October 1965 and now featuring the German carve of the regular Ventures model, though with a slightly thinner body and newly introduced pickups. This example is one of the earliest versions, identifiable by the slightly different shape of the pickguard.
Interestingly, Mosrite was still using leftover necks from the previous version on these early models. Because of that, the neck pickup cavity looks a bit unusual—slightly larger than later versions—and is mostly hidden beneath the pickguard. The guitar is completely original. There is some wear on the back of the neck, likely caused by something inside the case, perhaps a nail or screw that rubbed against the wood. A beautiful instrument that also sounds fantastic! Comes in a newer case.
