2001 Fender Yamano American Vintage '62 Jaguar Reissue Surf Green – w/ OHC, case candy, tags & paperwork, AVRI
A very rare custom color (for a Jaguar) originally ordered by the legendary Japanese importer Yamano,
2001 Fender Yamano American Vintage '62 Jaguar Reissue Surf Green
- incl. original hard case (OHC), accessories ("case candy"), hang tags & paperwork, AVRI
An exceptionally rare offering in well-maintained, completely original condition. This is an early "American Vintage '62 Jaguar Reissue" in the rare Surf Green finish; this model was produced in limited numbers for Yamano—Fender's former Japanese distributor—and sold exclusively on the Japanese market.
Included in the sale are the original brown G&G hard case, bridge cover, tremolo arm, as well as the original paperwork and hang tags.
Exact production figures are unknown, but examples in this configuration are extremely rare. While models from 2007 occasionally surface, this guitar dates back to the early days of US-made Fender Jaguar reissues; correct date stamps on the neck heel and factory codes confirm the year of manufacture.
Attention to detail and overall build quality are outstanding; this instrument significantly outperforms later AVRI models and newer reissues in terms of both playability and performance.
The condition is excellent throughout. The guitar is entirely original, free of breaks or repairs, and fully functional. Visually, it makes a great impression; there are only a few minor dings on the lower bout and the back, as well as slight finish checking at the neck pocket—common and expected characteristics for AVRI instruments of this age. Structurally, the instrument is absolutely flawless.
The neck and frets show little to no signs of play, and all original electronics function perfectly. Compared to later Jaguar pickups, the American Vintage '62 pickups deliver a slightly rounder, fuller midrange, offering a highly authentic vintage character.
I imported this guitar from the UK, paying all import duties and VAT.
The Jaguar has a scratch/buckle rash on the back.
In response to numerous inquiries: it weighs approximately 3,940g (according to a kitchen scale).
PayPal accepted; testing/pickup in Berlin is possible; insured shipping with DHL tracking is also available.
