Vintage MIJ / CIJ Electric Guitars
Fender produced the first "Made in Japan" (MIJ) models in 1982, and continued through the later "Crafted in Japan" (CIJ) era until 2015, when the Fender Japan shop was reorganized. Though the earlier MIJ-era is often sought after for its legendary quality, the CIJ-era also featured high-end instruments, as well as some of Fender Japan's quirkier creations. Fender Japan specialized in reissues of classic American Fenders, as well as its own unique twists on Fender's catalog. From humble Japanese Standard Telecasters to Custom Shop-quality EXTRAD reissues and Pro-Feel series Superstrats—there are MIJ and CIJ instruments for every type of player.
Modern MIJ Creations
After 2015, Fender Japan broke with many of its long-running models, and completely refreshed its product line. These new models still include popular vintage reissue series, but they put extra focus on limited-run instruments with unique specifications—and even more unique aesthetics.
