About this listing
Beautifully restored 1947 Martin D-18, a remarkable example of post-war craftsmanship that plays and sounds exactly as a great vintage D-18 should. Recently serviced by master vintage guitar luthier Antoine Lacasse, this guitar is ready for decades of music ahead. The guitar has undergone a thoughtful restoration while preserving its vintage character. It has been refinished long time ago and recently thinned by the luthier to optimize resonance. The bridge has been replaced with a period-correct Brazilian rosewood bridge. The frets have been changed and the neck has been reset for perfect playability. The fretboard is made of Brazilian rosewood. There is a small wood graft on one bottom side (treble side), cleanly executed and stable. There is no structural issue. It is currently set up with low action. The sound has that unmistakable vintage Martin presence, open and resonant, with a strong fundamental and just the right amount of harmonic complexity. The mahogany back and sides add focus and articulation, while the aged spruce top provides exceptional responsiveness and sustain. Whether played softly or driven hard with a flatpick, this guitar retains clarity and warmth in every register. It will be shipped in a new modern Martin Dreadnought hardshell case. A fantastic opportunity for anyone looking for a late 1940s D-18. Feel free to message for additional photos, sound clips, or any other details.
