The Grover 135 Series Vintage Machine Heads are designed for players who want a classic look without the fragility often associated with older tuners. Smoother Operation & Stability Featuring traditional plastic Keystone (tulip) buttons and a warm nickel finish, these machine heads are a perfect aesthetic match for vintage-style electric and acoustic guitars. Unlike the stamped-metal covers of the past, these utilise a modern die-cast, two-piece housing that provides significantly more strength and internal precision.While they look period-correct, the 135 Series benefits from a unique internal bearing surface. This design keeps the string post rigid, ensuring that the worm and gear stay perfectly aligned even under high string tension. The 14:1 gear ratio offers a familiar, responsive tuning experience that strikes a great balance between speed and accuracy. To ensure they last a long time, the gears are completely sealed and permanently lubricated, protecting the mechanism from the dust and corrosion that often plague vintage-style open-back or stamped tuners. Lightweight Construction & Fitment At just 6.6oz for the full set, these are significantly lighter than standard all-metal Rotomatics, which can help improve the balance of guitars prone to "neck dive." They are designed to fit standard 25/64-inch headstock holes, making them a popular choice for modernising guitars with older, less reliable hardware. While they share the same main footprint as many other Grover series, it is important to note that a new top mounting hole will typically need to be drilled to secure the vintage-style housing correctly.
