Fender Jaguar 1962 - Dakota Red
A genuinely rare find: a 1962 Fender Jaguar finished in the coveted Dakota Red custom color, all-original, with a wonderful story spanning over 50 years.
This Jaguar was purchased in 1974 from a guitarist in Swansea, Wales, and has remained in the same family's care ever since. Everything on the guitar itself is original, the Dakota Red finish, original pickguard is in the case as it has a lime green one installed, pickups, hardware, tremolo system and electronics. No refinishes, no replaced parts, no "period correct" substitutions just an honest, well-loved '62 that's earned every mark on it.
Adding to the story, the case is a one-of-a-kind, hand-built piece made by the owner's father to house and protect the guitar. It's as much a part of the instrument's personal history as it is a functional case, and it travels with the guitar in this sale.
The Jaguar was Fender's flagship model when it launched in 1962, built to top the Jazzmaster with a shorter scale length, dual circuit switching, and that unmistakable surf/indie tone. Dakota Red examples are far scarcer than Sunburst or later custom colors like Lake Placid Blue or Candy Apple Red, and finding one still wearing its original finish let alone with a documented decades-long ownership history and a handmade case built for it, is a rare privilege for any collector or player.
This isn't a "restored to look vintage" guitar. It's a genuine, unmolested survivor with a story from Wales, five decades of care, and a case built by hand for exactly this instrument.
