1959 Fender Deluxe 5E3 Narrow Panel Tweed Amplifier

A wonderful player’s example of one of the most iconic guitar amplifiers ever built.

Offered here is an authentic 1959 Fender Deluxe (5E3) tweed amplifier that has been sympathetically maintained over its lifetime while retaining the character, feel, and unmistakable sound that made these amplifiers legendary.

This amplifier has lived a quiet life. It has spent the past decade in climate-controlled storage after being professionally serviced, and has seen virtually no playing time since.

The tweed covering shows honest wear consistent with its age, giving it the appearance collectors appreciate—original, unpolished, and never cosmetically restored. The chassis has not been drilled or modified, and the control panel remains clean and original with no extra switches or “improvements.”

The original Jensen P12R speaker has been professionally reconed and has seen essentially no use since the work was completed. It remains paired with its original frame and delivers the classic response expected from a vintage Jensen.

The amplifier has also been serviced for reliable operation. The electrolytic capacitors were replaced during maintenance, and it currently wears a matched set of Groove Tubes. The original power transformer was replaced many years ago with a quality A.R.D. Transformer Corp. (Los Angeles, California) unit, while the original output transformer remains in place.

The amplifier retains its original two-prong power cord. As with any vintage amplifier, buyers should have it inspected by a qualified technician before regular use and determine whether they wish to install a modern grounded power cord.

This is not a museum-piece collector’s amplifier, nor is it represented as completely original. Rather, it is exactly what many experienced vintage players seek: an honest, professionally maintained 1959 Deluxe that preserves the soul and tone of the original while remaining practical to own and enjoy.
