1931 Selmer Paris "Cigar Cutter" Super Sax Alto Saxophone, Silver Plate

Genuine vintage Selmer Paris "Cigar Cutter" Super Sax alto saxophone, serial number 14637, dating to approximately 1931. This is the early Selmer "Super" series, named for the distinctive cigar cutter octave key mechanism, and one of the more collectible pre-Balanced Action Selmers.

Original silver plate finish with attractive hand-engraved decoration on the bell and body. The bell carries the period-correct engraving: Déposé, the Henri Selmer Paris laurel-leaf logo, the H. Selmer signature, "4 Place Dancourt Paris," and serial No. 14637, all fully legible.

Provenance: This was purchased this directly from Sax Machine (Marianne D'Ursin), a vintage saxophone specialist in Paris, in August 2016. The original receipt is included and documents the serial number and a complete repad (retamponnage complet) performed at the time of sale. It was briefly played by me in 2016 and has been stored since.

Condition, stated honestly: cosmetically it shows age-appropriate patina and light tarnish on the silver, fine surface scratches consistent with its age, and some wear to the mother-of-pearl touches. No major dents or solder repairs are visible. Important: I have not played or learned the saxophone in 10 years, so I have not reassembled or test-played the instrument. The 2016 overhaul is now around ten years old, so the current pad, cork, and spring condition is unverified and a buyer should budget for inspection and servicing. Listed as-is for this reason.

Included: the saxophone, a Selmer S80 C* alto mouthpiece, a silver Selmer ligature, a silver Selmer cap (couvre-bec), reeds, and the case, along with the original purchase receipt.
