Outstanding Octavia from the land of the rising sun:
Tako is the Japanese word for octopus. I mixed Tako and Octavia. That is how I named the Takotavia. Takotavia is based on the legendary Tycobrahe Octavia pedal. I wanted to retain the maximum appeal of the original’s unique upper octave sound and distinctive, unstable tone, so I made few changes to the original circuit. I have modified it slightly to my tastes. I have changed the circuit only a little, but you can feel the Lemon & Ginger character.
I like the sound of it with the “boost” turned down, combined with other overdrive pedals or fuzz pedals. Takotavia is not a stand-alone pedal, it sounds best in a combination of other pedals. I hope you will find the best combination for your sound.
With most battery-powered pedals, you have to unplug the pedal’s input jack every time you finish playing, to conserve battery power. However, Takotavia turns off the battery by setting the “VOLUME” to zero. So, now you can reduce battery consumption without having to unplug your patch cord from the input jack.
