The Gibson L-30 is a small-body archtop with a flat back, produced throughout the 1930s. Originally positioned as an entry-level instrument, it delivers a surprisingly rich, complex tone with warmth and projection well beyond what its size might suggest. The low end is tight and defined, the midrange punchy and present, and the highs clear and full.
Like Gibson's L-series flat-tops, the L-30 shares the same body dimensions, but distinguishes itself with maple back and sides in place of mahogany. The flat, braced back mirrors flat-top construction, while the top is carved spruce with tone-bar bracing. The neck joins at the 14th fret with a 24.75" scale length, rosewood fingerboard, simple dot inlays, a 1-3/4" nut, and a V-shaped carve.
This example is fully original throughout — Grover open-book tuners, nut, pickguard, bridge, tailpiece, and finish are all intact
The guitar is completely original, including its Grover open-book tuners, nut, pickguard, bridge, tailpiece, and finish. We have strung it with Nickel Bronze strings and it is a delight to play and sounds much less thunky than standard archtops. Such a fun guitar!
Includes modern hardshell case.
