Up for sale is a 1986 Gibson SG ’62 Reissue from the pre-Historic era, a period where Gibson was starting to re-approach vintage specs but before the formal Historic line was introduced. These mid-80s reissues have developed a strong reputation for their feel, resonance, and no-frills, player-first build quality.

This example has all the hallmarks you’d expect: lightweight mahogany body, slim SG neck profile, and a pair of humbuckers that deliver that classic mid-forward Gibson bite with plenty of clarity and grind when pushed. It’s a very lively guitar acoustically and translates well through an amp.

Condition is very good for its age. There is honest playwear throughout, most notably on the back of the neck where you can see light wear and finish marks (pictured). This is purely cosmetic and actually gives it a broken-in feel that many players prefer. The body shows typical signs of use, including light surface wear and small marks consistent with a nearly 40-year-old instrument, but nothing that affects playability or structural integrity.

Hardware shows some natural aging and patina. Electronics are functioning as they should. The guitar appears largely original, excluding the pickups. It appears the original Shaw humbuckers have been replaced with a more modern Gibson pickup (burstbucker or 57 classic, I am bot sure how to tell the difference)
