Custom Lo-Fi Telephone Microphone/DJ ‘Lollipop’ Headphone - Northern Electric G1 1960's Handset - Beige

Canadian DJ's rejoice! You've been asking me for it and I've finally sourced the parts to make an affordable version. Inspired by the DJ lollipop headphone but with a retro twist. I've taken a 1960's era Type G1 handset, removed the original vintage receiver element and replaced it with a slightly more modern (1990's) receiver element for a bit better clarity and much higher volume output. Then fit it with a balanced 1/4" input jack on the bottom so you can easily connect it to your PA system.

But because I've still used all original vintage telephone parts this has the capability to be connected either as a headphone OR as a microphone (see video for demonstration). Simply switch the balanced cable from an output to an input and use it as a vintage telephone mic. Complete with all the compressed lo-fi radio voice tones you want.

Easily listen to playback and cue up the next song in style. These are made from original 1960’s era Type G1 handsets originally manufactured by either Northern Electric or Western Electric back in the day and rebadged by the local phone company.

These Northern Electric/Western Electric G1 type handsets are nearly 70 years old, as such they will have blemishes, scratches, and other signs of use to the finish. But this only adds to the charm and character of the mic. The photos in the listing are of the actual item you will receive. Note: The video demonstrates a headphone in orange, but the functionality is the same. You'll receive the colour listed in the title and photos.

These types of mics have a lot of colour and break up in their sound. Be careful when first connecting to amp or PA before increasing input/output levels.
